Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. Know what that means? It’s your last chance to buy this Golden Girls box set and blame it on your mom’s tastes.

The Golden Girls: 25th Anniversary Complete Collection is a limited edition 21-disc (!) DVD set that has every single episode, every possible DVD bonus feature, and a set of character-themed playing cards — all packaged in a replica of Sophia’s (Estelle Getty) wicker purse.

Extras include the “Thank You For Being A Friend” retrospective and the “Go For The Gold Trivia Challenge.”

Too bad they didn’t include some type of drinking game for spotting the show’s many guest stars. Some of the famous faces to appear during the show’s seven-season run include Dick Van Dyke, Harold Gould, Don Ameche, Sonny Bono, Rosalind Cash, Merv Griffin, Ruby Dee, Leslie Nielsen, Mickey Rooney, Harry Shearer, George Clooney, and even Quentin Tarantino.

A purse-load of Golden Girls does not come cheap, though. Expect this set to set you back $369.

TBS has ordered eight episodes of King of the Nerds, a new reality TV nerd-off hosted by Robert Carradine and Curtis Armstrong. Never have I seen the word “nerd” used more in a press release, and that includes for the film Revenge of the Nerds.

King of the NERDS is primed to become television’s ultimate NERD-off. The show invites competitors spanning the full NERD spectrum to come together to face challenges that will test their intellect, ingenuity, skills and pop-culture prowess. The NERDS will first compete as teams before moving on to individual challenges, all with the goal of being named the quintessential master of all things NERDy.

“It’s been said we’re living in the ‘Age of the NERD, and if so, what better way to acknowledge that than to have a competition to crown the King of the NERDS?” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “King of the NERDS is a lot of fun as it not only celebrates NERD culture, but also illuminates it.  We believe King of the NERDS is an ideal fit with The Big Bang Theory, and we look forward to having it on the network”

“King of the NERDS will be the first-ever NERD-on-NERD warfare competition series. Who better to have as our hosts than Robert and Curtis, the founding fathers of the NERD Universe,” said Jimmy Fox, head of creative development for Electus. “We are incredibly excited to partner with TBS to not only celebrate the NERD in each and every one of us, but to bring an incredibly fun, smart and entertaining competition series to the TBS audience.”

Nerd-on-nerd warfare crosses paths with the Nerd Universe? Won’t the world implode? We shall see when King of the Nerds debuts in early 2013.

…and by “junk,” I mean DVDs and Blu-rays.

Earlier this month, Paramount announced plans to unclench and finally release The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection. Actually, I couldn’t give a crap about the last three movies, but if that’s what it takes to get Raiders of the Lost Ark, sign me up.

The rest of the franchise had its ups and downs. I didn’t care much for Mrs. Steven Spielberg as the love interest in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. She’s no Karen Allen. That said, I am going to blame the kid for that shambles of a movie. Adding Sean Connery as Indy’s dad made Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade palatable. Frankly, it’s hard to resist James Bond in any setting and/or hat choice. The most recent Indy adventure was a little late and unnecessary, but far from the worst thing that’s had the names Spielberg and Lucas attached to it.

Paramount hasn’t said much about the actual set, except that it’s going to come with all four flicks and a bunch of unnamed extras. What’s with all of the secrecy? Does your face melt if you look at the set before it’s released? Stop trying to build hype and simultaneously piss people off.

If that’s enough for you to plop down $75, Amazon is currently taking pre-orders.

About a week ago, I had the pleasure of reviewing The Muppets on Blu-ray. Yes, it was actually a pleasure. I thought the movie was really well done, it looked amazing on Blu-ray, and it sounded even better (read my Muppets review on Big Picture Big Sound for even more gushing about the movie).

What was even better was being able to share it with my kid. I was such a Muppet fan as a wee one and he hasn’t seemed all that interested. He loves The Street and Fraggle Rock. So what was the problem?

Little mom tip: If you’re looking to bond with a 5-year-old boy, always go for the fart shoes. He loved the entire movie, but that certainly sealed the deal.

Bonus points for being in the film “Sixteen Candles.”

Recently, I was contracted to do an article on the “Manliest Homes in America” for Men’s Health. It’s always fun and a challenge to find a bunch of homes that would make others cringe and comment with venomous jealousy.

The end result was pretty awesome, though. Not surprising: A lot of people have a lot of technology. Sort of surprising: Multiple people have methods to “slide” from one floor to the next.

Even if you’re sick of the man cave thing, know that a lot of women should be able to appreciate the beauty and the wealth behind each of these spaces.

Never really thought of Billy Zane as a great actor, but the guy does have quite an impressive resume. Lately though, he may want to stop keeping track of those accomplishments. Case in point: I got an invite today to call in for a Q&A with Zane and William Devane. The two are teaming up for a SyFy original titled Leprechaun’s Revenge.

Yeah, I’ve got a question: Will Billy Zane do anything these days?

I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day, but I am a fan of Valentine’s Day candy. Yes, I read every one of those little conversation hearts before I scarf them down. Plus, I absolutely love getting little notes from my son, even if they are written on old pieces of cardboard and/or wrapping paper.

Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to give gifts — even if you are gifting to yourself. (Han Solo chocolates for all, I say!)
