I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day, but I am a fan of Valentine’s Day candy. Yes, I read every one of those little conversation hearts before I scarf them down. Plus, I absolutely love getting little notes from my son, even if they are written on old pieces of cardboard and/or wrapping paper.

Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to give gifts — even if you are gifting to yourself. (Han Solo chocolates for all, I say!)

Disney just re-released Lady and the Tramp on Blu-ray, and it’s doggone (sorry) good. You don’t have to be a dog lover to get all misty over this classic canine tale. Don’t think so? Well, you should at least appreciate the visuals, you heartless bastard!

I love a man in uniform — unless it’s a Star Trek uniform. I have nothing against people that love the Trek. When you start wearing it on your sleeve, your head or your chest, it becomes a whole other different animal. I would say anything beyond a T-shirt is pushing it.

Recently, I found out that Tony Alleyne was being forced out of his Star Trek-inspired apartment. I had interviewed Tony a while back. The guy seemed nice enough. Then again, I didn’t have to look at that uniform and that all of that neon every single day.

OK, I am not planning to buy another TV anytime soon, but I have to admit that the 3D UD TV that LG is planning to show at next month’s Consumer Electronics Show does sound (or look) pretty cool. After all, look how happy this woman seems. Then again, maybe she’s just getting a double dose of that delicious Vegas oxygen.

This is the time of year where I neglect my own Christmas shopping to do a series of gift guides for various publications. It’s fun, mainly because it’s all stuff that I can’t afford. I love a good potty as much as the next person. That said, I will never understand the person that pays $6390 for a toilet. I’ll never understand it, but that doesn’t mean that I would not accept it as a Christmas gift.

There were a lot of crappy movies this year. This is not one of them. Tucker & Dale vs. Evil stars Steve the Pirate (Dodgeball) and the sidekick from the very shafted show Reaper. It’s sort of the same vein as Shawn of the Dead and Evil Dead II — and probably a few other movies with the word “dead” in the title. It’s a good time, though.
